The Superhuman Condition « Result #2 on Jun 25, 2009, 11:41am »
Today is like any other day. You wake up, get dressed, hurry to work. Above you, gray skies hang without emotion. Below you, gray cement moves by in a steady pace as you walk. Your coat is tattered, your shoes, old, your morale, weakened by the daily grind. The world is as it always has been for you: steadily boring, relentlessly pointless. As your feet move robotically down the path they've become so used to taking, you hear something - a small disturbance in the normality of the day. The faint echo of an old voice, filled with tired certainty, accompanied with an undertone of persuasive doom. After a few more steps, you break the mold of the routine you've become so accustomed to, forcing your weary legs to carry you in the direction of the sound. As you move closer, you hear the following words:
"The superhuman condition is a problem that we must all face together. We must face it with courage, and we must face it with dignity. Together, as a people, as a nation, we can stop this menace before it threatens to destroy the fabric of our society. As long as I am standing, I will keep this epidemic to our world contained!"
Your heartrate quickens, as does your pace. You turn the corner, eyes open, mind alert. A crowd of people fill the space in front of you, all staring hypnotically up at the pale, aged speaker. He is without charisma, but he holds their unwavering attention, though the way he adresses the crowd is one of routine formality. That is the only observation you manage to make before he turns, slowly entering the enormous whitehouse behind him. As the crowd disperses, you remain, lost in eager thought. How long have you been accepting the decisions of authority without question? How long have you been letting the difficulties of the world pass over your head, too concerned with your own welfare to care about the rest of society? This is your chance to break free. The path you were following for so long suddenly forks, without warning. One way leads to further acceptance. Take the words of the speaker at face value and attempt to aid your country in the fight against the superhuman condition. The other is the opposite: join the other side. Humanity has had control for far too long, and it's time for someone else to take the reins. Make this so-called "problem" the new reality. Show 'em what you've got.
It's up to you now; the choice is yours. Your destiny, your beliefs, your desires are all in your hands. Will you fight the superhuman condition? Or will you become it?
The Bleach world you know...the characters you know...plus others off the cannon mark. The timeline is just after Orihime had been captured by Aizen. However, it is nothing like the cannon story. There are other players involved off to the side...and a 5 sided war with the resurgence of the Quincy. Cannons are accepted, OCs are excepted. There is a power ranking system based on each character's profile, but it's a simple one that doesn't hinder a character's ability in the field. RPers of all skills welcome, and the Template isn't nearly as scary as it looks. Staff members are friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand. Although a small site, many of us do sign in at least once a day.
The Plot: ~ Orihime has been captured. While the eyes of the Seireitei were distracted by an arrancar raid on the human world, she was kidnapped to further the plans of Aizen Sosuke. After healing the former Espada Grimmjow’s arm, and restoring his rank, she was confined to her quarters, while her friends planned to break her free. However, this event is but a small part of the whole.
Both Aizen and the Seireitei have their hands full. In Soul Society, a band of rogue shinigami broke loose, openly defying the King. Their leader was a captain class shinigami, imprisoned in the Maggots Nest for decades, who went by the name of Kira Amaya. They escaped to the real world, and even now are planning their attack on the Seireitei.
Aizen, on the other hand, was forced to deal with a band of rebel arrancar, who grew tired of being ruled by a shinigami, their enemy. They escaped Los Noches, and fled across the White Desert into a series of ruins on the far edge of the desert. They live by a democratic code, and simply want to be free as they were when they were hollows, and not ruled by anyone. Though currently leaderless, this may change in due time. So far, they have even been able to repel attacks made by Espada from their haven.
Adding a fifth facet to the massive spirit war, a cult of Quincy, who had been in hiding finally emerged from hiding in Karakura town. They stand directly opposed to shinigami and hollow alike, putting them at odds with all sides. Wearing their Quincy honor like a badge, they intend to wipe out shinigami and hollows for good, in revenge for the Quincy massacre.
In this now five sided war, who will be the victor? Who will die? It’s up to you! ~

"I shouldn't have survived..."
"But you did, my dear, and that is all that matters."
"I was expecting to die, Ducky...I intended to die."
"Now, now, Jennifer. You shouldn't say things like that."
"I am afraid that Jennifer has developed...a rather complicated condition, Jethro."
"What's wrong with her?"
"I believe our Director is experiencing retrograde amnesia. She believes that it is 1999...and she's in Paris."
"So...we wait for her to snap out of it?"
"She won't just 'snap out of it', Jethro...You have to tell her what's going on."
"Why me, Duck? Why not someone else?"
"Because she only wants to talk to you..."
In a world where Jenny Shepard survived the shootout in the abandoned diner, what has changed? Agent Gibbs' team remains intact, and with the Director's memory nine years in the past, what secrets will unfold? Some things are better left in the past. But whether or not they stay there is another story entirely....
Since have humans walked the earth, so have other creatures. Creatures that most believe to only exist in myth. Creatures like vampires, demons, werewolves, witches, shape-shifters, fairies, and elves. It’s not really known which came first, for it was too long ago to remember and anyone alive then is now dead, and they didn’t even leave a ghost for anyone to ask. Ghosts weren’t around since the beginning, they came after the first person died, human is what is believed. Though not everyone or everything that dies becomes a ghost, only those who choose to, become one. Choosing to become a ghost is rare, most don’t choose that path for themselves, but even rarer than that has been times when all the species have gotten along. To this day, there have only been three periods of time that there has been peace between them all. The most recent of those three periods was just around 500 years ago, when a special school was built for all the species to come and learn at. It was built as a kind of peace treaty among the species, a place for them to all live in harmony, for a certain period of time at least. The school was called Forevermore Academy.
The peace treaty didn’t last for that long though, soon the kids in the school were fighting which broke the treaty. The teachers tried to bring the students back together, but they did so in a way which some believe made things worse, while others think it was genius. They deiced to get a group of students, at least one from each species, even a ghost, and have them kill off the trouble makers, in whatever way that they pleased. And they wouldn’t get in trouble for it. It was suppose to make the students stick together so that they wouldn’t be the ones killed off and to stop the ones causing trouble among the species, and in a way, it worked. But like all things, nothing works out exactly as planned. Some kids decided to fend for themselves and actually started causing more problems, but they were quickly killed off. The group of kids in charge of the killings fashioned themselves the name of ‘The Execution Squad’.
Since then the killings have turned into more of a game, and there is always and Execution Squad roaming the halls, but no one ever knows who they are. If someone does find out one of their true identities, they are either killed or scared into not telling anyone. Though the only ones who ever find out are ones that actually survive the game, since that’s what it’s turned into. It’s a game for those that don’t value living, who are causing too much trouble, or someone on the Execution Squad just doesn’t like, play for their life. It’s extremely rare that someone survives the games, for they normally have to do something that they would never want to do and they die instead of doing whatever it is that they don’t want to do. Humans tend to die the most though, for they are the ones normally chosen, even if they do make up the smallest percentage of the school.
Everyone knows about the games, even if it’s not something they tell you upon arrival. And it’s definitely not in the little school pamphlet that you get when you enroll. No, they want people to come to their school, and telling them that they might not make it out alive isn’t a way to get them to come to the school. Here at Forevermore Academy, it’s a whole different high school. It’s life or death, and you might just be stuck here forevermore.
